Josh & Erika met me at Boulevard park for their engagement photos along with some family photos with their boys. We had a great time cruising around the park, playing games and having jumping competitions. This family is full of laughter and I can’t wait to spend more time with them next month

Nursery {DIY: Birds & Branches theme}

I think it’s safe to say I’m not the first mom who had great intentions of finishing the baby’s nursery well in advance and then changed their game plan to “well as long as it’s complete before he’s 18, I’ll be happy”! The last few touches are finally complete and I’m excited to share the results of Justin’s ‘birds and branches’ themed nursery. Most of what you see was handmade (thanks to the help of several family members and friends).

Rocking chair was previously used to rock Justin’s daddy to sleep when he was just a babe, Pillow sewn by my mom, Blanket handmade by my mother in law, Lamp: paint + fabric cutout.

These canvases hang above the changing table. Plain white canvases + paint + fabric cutouts and spray glue

My very talented husband made this rocking horse… such a treasure!

And a fun little collage that is hanging in the hallway outside of the nursery: $3 window from the re-store + chicken wire + mini clothespins!

Levi {1 year}

One of my favorite model’s from last year (first image) turned ONE this spring and he is even more adorable!

Here he is … big boy Levi! I don’t think I have ever seen a child get as excited about cake as this little guy did. I swear he got cake flying as high as the ceiling and the giggles that were coming out of him were priceless.

I thought this next serious was a pretty good representation of what happens when you ask a 1 year old to ’sit and stay’…

Stella {1 year}

Little Stella visited the studio recently for some 1 year photos. I love the sweet little looks of wonder and innocence that she gave … what a little sweetheart. I also enjoyed getting to see her mom and sister again. I first met the family a few years ago when big sister was a flower girl in a wedding I photographed. Then the following year I got to see them again for her 2 year photos and then some maternity pictures before this precious little girl was born. Now it’s time for Stella to be in the spotlight! Thanks for sharing your growing family with me Ashlea

Justin {4 months}

Many of you have been asking for updates on baby Justin and as you can see in the following photos, he is growing like a weed and getting more and more adorable every day At his 4 month appointment he was over 15lbs. We love our little chubby baby and are so thankful for his continued health. His personality is also developing rapidly … the smiles and giggles that come out of this little guy are ridiculously cute!

New this week … he found his feet!

On Easter we couldn’t resist a couple photos of Justin and cousin Adam with their bunny ears. Everyone needs photos for blackmail down the road right?

Justin took part in a dedication service at our church and all of the parents were encouraged to write letters to their children. I wanted to share our letter and would love to hear from you if you’ve done something similar… (click below to view full post)

Baby Justin,

The morning we first got to see your precious face and hold you in our arms, we realized that our hearts were capable of a whole new level of love. I don’t think we will ever be able to express to you how much you are loved … but we will try

Your dad and I lay in bed at night talking about how cute you are, how big you are getting and how much joy you have brought to our lives. We also like to talk about what we think you are going to be like when you grow up. Are you going to enjoy hunting and fishing with your dad? Will you be interested in the arts like your mom? Will you become a pro golfer and make lots of money? Although these are fun things to consider, our biggest hope and prayer for you is that you will grow up to be a man of God. That you would have a personal relationship with Christ and that you would be used to share His love with those around you.

In Deuteronomy 6 we are told to “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul and all your strength. Write these commandments on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.” As your parents we will commit to following these teachings and to keep God in the center of our home. And because you will come to us for wisdom and want to follow in your daddy’s footsteps, we promise to walk in the footsteps of our Heavenly Father so that we might be good role models. We do not promise to be perfect but we will do our best to shine God’s love and grace even through our mistakes.

Justin, we pray that you will always feel loved and that you will grow up to be as much of a blessing in this world as you have already been a blessing to us. We love you so much and can’t wait to see what your future holds.
